Si SOPA

SOPA apaan sih? Semacam tempat duduk empuk di ruang keluarga atau di ruang tamu? Itu Sofa. Atau nama artis indo yang kawin cerai itu? Itu Sofia Latjuba. Atau Minuman berSopa macam kokakola? Itu Soda. Atau Sopa Sopa Gue? Ituuu Suka Suka Gue...

Jadi SOPA apaan?

Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), also known as House Bill 3261 or H.R. 3261, is a bill that was introduced in the United States House of Representatives on October 26, 2011, by House Judiciary Committee Chair Representative Lamar S. Smith (R-TX) and a bipartisan group of 12 initial co-sponsors. The bill, if made law, would expand the ability of U.S. law enforcement and copyright holders to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods.^[2] Presented to the House Judiciary Committee, it builds on the similar PRO-IP Act of 2008 and the corresponding Senate bill, the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA).^[3]

Nah itu deh definisinya. Dari sana, bakal ada sensor kegiatan internet dah tuh. Wikipedia juga udah melancarkan protes atas SOPA dengan meng-off-kan sementara sitenya. Karena SOPA juga bisa banget buat ngelarang orang ngopas apa yang ada di internet. Nah mati dah tuh kaum kayak aku yang suka kopas seenak jidat dari internet, Google lebih pasnya. Misal mau ngunduh lagunya Rihanna, bisa butuh waktu berapa tahun coba? Kalau butuh apa-apa dari mesin pencari, gimana? SOPA itu sedikit bahaya dan bisa bikin kita kembali ke jaman kegelapan.
WHY?
Karena :

• Internet service providers will be required to block your access to the site (section 102(c)(2)(A)(i)) within five days.
• Search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) will be forced to remove all references to the offending sites from their indexes (section 102(c)(2)(B)).
• Ad providers (Google AdSense, Federated Media, etc.) will be required to stop providing ad service to the site.
• Payment providers (PayPal, Visa, etc.) will be required to terminate service to the site.

Nah....

Tapi keuntungannya, kalau kita punya karya otentik, itu bisa jadi milik kita seutuhnya dan ga gampang buat dikopas gitu aja. Tapi yaaa...bukannya banyak hal-hal baru lahir karena kita lihat apa yang ada lalu dibuatlah inovasi?
